Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Content & PR Specialist who will be responsible for, but not limited to, crafting engaging social media copy, scheduling posts, writing and editing SEO-driven blog content, and coordinating email newsletters to drive audience engagement, and assisting in PR initiatives. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and technical skills to effectively engage our clients’ audience and drive brand growth.

Responsibilities

Monthly

Social Media Management

  • Create and maintain editorial calendars to schedule content publication and ensure a consistent flow of content.

  • Write copy for all social media posts.

  • Coordinate content production with other team members and departments to meet deadlines.

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.

Email Newsletters

  • Design, write, and schedule compelling email newsletters to engage and inform our clients’ audience.

  • Analyze email performance metrics and optimize future campaigns based on insights.

Article & Blog SEO

  • Create blog outlines to identify important information prior to writing articles/blogs (such as URL, title, meta description, excerpt, and keywords).

  • Write all clients’ articles/blogs.

  • Monitor and analyze SEO performance and adjust strategies as needed.

Public Relations

  • Digital Community Engagement

    • Identify, research, and engage with relevant social media accounts and groups that align with the client's brand voice and mission.

    • Leverage partnerships by engaging with key influencers and thought leaders within the client’s industry to expand their reach and visibility.

    • Research and vet social media trends and accounts to ensure alignment with the client’s goals and values.

  • Media Relations

    • Identify relevant local, regional, and national trends for clients.

    • Identify new outlets or platforms to explore for pitching opportunities.

    • Brainstorm ideas and news angles for clients that align with ongoing trends and seasonal events.

  • Awards & Recognition

    • Research and identify relevant industry awards and recognition opportunities that align with the client’s brand

  • Strategic Partnerships

    • Research and identify influencer and organizational partnerships that align with the client's mission and goals

  • Misc.

    • Regularly scan industry publications, news outlets, and social media to stay current on relevant topics.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all content meets high-quality standards, including grammar, spelling, and adherence to brand guidelines.


Quarterly

Reporting & Analytics

  • Aid in providing insights for client reports created by the Analytics & Technology Manager.

Public Relations

  • Support in the creation of a comprehensive PR report summarizing media coverage, key metrics, and results achieved for each client.

  • Review and refresh potential strategic relationships with influencers, organizations, and non-profits.

As Needed

Support

  • Additional support for Content & PR, including, but not limited to: Concepting ideas, event planning, internal & external communications and sponsorships/charitable initiatives.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay current with industry best practices, content marketing tools, and emerging trends to improve skills and strategies.

Requirements

  • Available to work in our Rochester or Ithaca office.

  • Strong copywriting and communication skills.

  • Effectively communicate brand messages to diverse audiences.

  • Self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
